About Me- RE 4030

I am in my last year at Appalachian State University, where I will have earned my degree in Elementary Education in just a few short months! I have always known that I wanted to be a teacher since I taught my dolls and stuffed animals as a child. Working with kids, like you, is something that I am passionate about. I was born in Hickory, North Carolina, where I still live and commute to Boone each day for class. My immediate family consist of my parents, two older brothers, two sisters-in-law, three nieces, and one nephew!

Things I like/love:

I am a huge family person! My entire family lives within an hour from me, so we are an extremely close family. We are always finding reasons to get together, whether to celebrate birthdays, play cards, or most importantly to eat! All together, only on my mom’s immediate side of the family, there are thirty of us…so it can get wild at times!

Reading is a passion of mine as well! Right now, I enjoy reading Nicholas Sparks’ novels. He is from North Carolina and always has interesting storylines.

Sports are always of interest to me! Cheerleading has always been an enormous part of my life and will again someday, as I hope to coach again soon! I also enjoy playing softball for my church, as I am the only female on the team! During basketball season, you can always catch me watching the Carolina Tarheels playing! I get to attend games at UNC quite often, which is amazing!

Lastly, I love to shop! Clothes, shoes, and jewelry are my favorites for shopping! If I find myself in a bad mood, shopping is always a great cure!

What I look like?

I stand 5 feet 7 inches tall and have red hair, which I get from my dad and brother. I tend to keep my hair short because it’s simple to fix! My eyes are a bright blue color. I have an athletic and muscular build because I have always played sports since age four. On most normal days, I don’t eat breakfast, but trying to get into the habit. I try to always have a smile on my face as I think smiling and laughing are extremely important in life! Being optimistic is a must for me to survive!

What I dislike…?

I dislike the sound of nails scratching on a chalkboard. This truely makes every hair on my arm stand, every time I hear it. Also, the noise of someone papping their fingers, back, neck, or any other body part gives me the same feeling. It makes me shake and feel nauseous for a few seconds. I would definitely be perfectly fine if I never heard either one again!

Slow drivers are another dislike of mine. I cannot handle getting trapped behind a vehicle that is going right at or less than the speed limit. This always seems to happen when I am in a hurry and feel as I am running late. I tend to drive faster than the advised speed because I like to get where I am going!

The foods that I detest are hotdogs, livermush, and black-eyed peas. These three foods amke me have a sick feeling in my stomach. I actually used to eat hotdogs but cannot stand the thought of having to eat one now. Of course, I am forced to eat black-eyed peas once a year… New Year’s Day. This is only because I a required and my family alwasy seems to be watching while I do this and always seem to get a laugh at my expression.

My addiction is sweet tea! I cannot go one day without it! My addiction is not the caffeine because I make de-caffeinated tea for my house. But a bad day is a day without my sweet tea!

How Do I Act?!?

I act happy and enthusiastic most of the time. I love to enjoy myself in whatever I do. I love to smile and am enthusiastic to learn new things daily.

I act athletic because I have been around or involved in sports my entire life. I love to play or watch sports and take pleasure in attending sports events!

Teaching on the elementary level is my dream job. I withhold a great deal of passion for teaching and couldn’t imagine my career being anything else. This has been a dream of mine since a child myslef as I used to line up my babydolls and stuffed animals for ‘teaching time.’ I honestly cannot wait to venture into my very own classroom soon!

    Stacey!!
I learned so much more about you from reading your About Me section! Who knew you didn’t like livermush?? You are missing out :) . Your page really explains who you are and what you stand for. You should use this blog when you become a teacher because your parents and students will truly get a feel for how great you are :) . I enjoyed looking at all your pictures too.

    Hey Stacey,
I think its so cute how you used to teach your dolls and your stuffed animals. I used to play school with my younger siblings. They hated me, because I would get all into it and so angry if they didn’t return the “homework” I assigned to them. I remember making math work sheets and giving them books to read.

Oh and what do you have against hot dogs?

So you have road rage too, huh? I know I feel the same way! I learned things about you from your page that I didn’t know! And I thought I knew you so well! You did a great job and I know that your future students will love looking at this.
